Rudy Teeuwe (Ruben Lürsen) and Dexter Parisius (Mike Libanon) run a rundown boxing gym on a nondescript industrial estate. The place costs more than it makes, so they take on “side jobs.” Rudy and Dexter live and work by their own code of honor and sense of justice. They’re tough, decisive, and stubborn as hell. Listening to others isn’t their thing — except when it comes to Daisy (Eva Duijvestein), the stunning hostess who climbs her way up to become a full-fledged member of the team.
Rudy is the son of Alfons Teeuwe (Hans Croiset), the uncrowned king of the underworld. Alfons’s right-hand man Bennie (Hans Dagelet) often gets in the trio’s way — but sometimes helps them out of a jam. Dexter used to be a promising detective until he was framed for the murder of his colleague and spent six years behind bars for a crime he didn’t commit.
The two rough-edged men grow into a tight-knit trio, with Daisy’s feminine finesse often making the difference between victory and defeat. That’s why these swine treasure their pearl.
Access Denied unfolds in the twilight zone between the underworld and the so-called upper world. Also inhabiting this space is The Moonlight, a nightclub where shady characters meet even shadier ones. In The Moonlight, nothing is what it seems — and that’s exactly why Dexter and Rudy feel at home there. Rudy has another reason too: he’s in love with the unattainable Lynn, the mysterious and melancholic owner of The Moonlight, marking the acting debut of Monique Klemann.
